Aldi works with Glovo in Barcelona pilot

Cut price supermarket chain Aldi has started an on-demand delivery pilot with Glovo in Spain.

Barcelona shoppers will be able to choose from a selection of the supermarket chain’s products via the Glovo app, and these will be delivered in around 30 minutes.

Thanks to the agreement, Aldi will continue to expand its omnichannel offering and overall presence in Spain. In return, Glovo will be able to offer more groceries through its app, an area the on-demand delivery company has seen strong growth in demand for.

During the pandemic, Glovo has been developing its business away from hot food delivery into things like groceries, non-medical pharmacy products, electronics and gift lines. It has attracted a lot of interest from investors as its business has benefitted from the pan European lockdown restrictions of the last year.
