Swiss Post has made the announcement that it is to introduce new services so customers “can now manage their parcels individually and decide for themselves when, where and how they want to receive them”.
The postal operator released a statement that said, “Even while parcels are out for delivery, customers can arrange for them to be delivered on a desired day, in the evening or early in the morning. In order to offer even greater convenience when receiving parcels, Swiss Post is also trialling delivery time notifications.
Swiss Post added: “Rising mobility in society and growing online retail mean that customers expect individual options for sending and receiving parcels. Over the past few years, Swiss Post has introduced a number of services that meet these needs. Swiss Post is now going one step further and, effective immediately, is offering its customers the option to manage parcels, even while they are out for delivery.”
Using the Customer Centre on Swiss Post website, customers can manage their consignments, viewing the status of incoming parcels and from there they can choose the most convenient time and date window. They can also have their parcels delivered to another address. Swiss Post is also testing a service where customers receive an email or text message informing them of their delivery time window.
“If the trial is successful,” said Swiss Post, “it is planned to be introduced at the end of February 2017.”
Swiss Post added that it “also trialling new forms of delivery such as drones and delivery robots”.
