Amazon acquisition to help US sellers import

Amazon Inc has bought tech startup INLT for an undisclosed sum. INLT makes a software package for sellers to manage costs and customs clearance for cross-border shipments.

Amazon state that it is to offer the cloud-based software package to its marketplace merchants.

On INLT’s website the company states: “We have been acquired by Amazon and look forward to working with them to develop the next generation of solutions for our current customers and Amazon Selling Partners.”

“INLT is a smart, nimble team that is helping companies simplify and lower the cost of importing goods into the U.S.,” an Amazon spokeswoman said in a statement. “We’re excited to work with them to develop the next generation of solutions for their customers and Amazon selling partners.”

Amazon Marketplace largely leaves the sellers to manage their own imports and cross border sales purchases. The INLT package should go some way to helping them manage their imports to the USA.
