Amazon makes 45 million zero emission deliveries in the UK

Amazon UK made more than 45 million deliveries by zero emissions vehicles in 2021, according to the company. It used more than 1,000 electric vans, cargo-bikes, e-scooters and walkers to aid the delivery of the parcels around the UK.

Amazon is one of the leaders where it comes to mega-companies that are seeking to achieve carbon neutrality. It aims to achieve net-zero carbon by 2040, and the final mile leg of delivery is one of the low hanging fruit in the ways it can achieve this.

According to the company it has ‘hundreds’ more electric vans on order for deliveries in the UK and Europe, and is using other methods like using cargo bikes and e-scooters for deliveries in 15 cities across Europe. Micro-mobility vehicles in turn help reduce congestion and help with pollution across urban areas.

The company concluded in its statement, “We will continue to invent and innovate new, more efficient ways to deliver packages to customers more sustainably. As we transform our fleet, we will save millions of tonnes of carbon from entering the atmosphere every year.”
