Customers in parts of London and Hertfordshire can now have Amazon Prime one-hour delivery of goods from Morrisons and two smaller companies.
Amazon has now made several thousand Morrisons SKUs available from the grocery chain through the ‘Morrisons at Amazon’ store on the Prime Now app.
In addition, two smaller firms have now been signed up. Health, beauty and wellbeing shop, John Bell & Croyden as well as Spirited Wines customers can now buy goods from the Amazon Prime Now app in those selected areas.
“We are delighted to welcome Morrisons’ increased selection to the Prime Now app, enabling us to grow the selection of items available to our Prime customers for one hour delivery,” said Mariangela Marseglia, director for Amazon Prime Now EU.
“Morrisons store selection is in addition to existing local stores available on Prime Now – John Bell & Croyden and Spirited Wines – helping us to provide more than 10,000 additional items to customers for ultra-fast delivery, and we look forward to adding more stores and reaching more customers in the future.”
Last year Apex Insight reported on the speculation around Amazon’s dealings with Morrisons and there were some interesting – and very wrong – conclusions. As it has turned out, Amazon is acting as a delivery company for Morrisons in direct rivalry with Ocado who do the same thing for the grocery chain. With some speculation that Sainsbury’s could be entering the fray with a bid on Morrisons having gone head to head with Amazon by buying up Argos, this world will never cease to be speculation free.
