Amazon Prime Now shoppers can use Alexa. The online giant described this as its ‘fastest and easiest way to shop’. Shoppers can use the service from today (21st of March). Prime Now is also available for alcohol in some US cities.
“Alexa can order multiple items at once, make recommendations and will automatically choose the next available 2-hour delivery window,” according to Amazon.
In addition, Amazon announced that from today customers in a number of select US cities can also use Alexa to buy wine, beer and spirits delivered to their door, with free two hour delivery through the Prime Now service. Currently, all alcohol delivery is available in Seattle, Washington, while beer and wine are available in Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio.
As per national alcohol use laws, customers using Alexa to buy alcohol must be over 21 and must also show their valid proof of age ID when the booze is delivered.
Amazon explained how Prime Now shopping on Alexa will work: “It’s as simple as saying, “Alexa, order from Prime Now” — Alexa will recommend a product within the Prime Now catalogue and once confirmed add it to the customer’s order. Customers can add as many items as they want and Alexa can offer suggestions based on the other items in their current order. Once the minimum order amount is reached, Alexa will automatically choose the next available 2-hour delivery slot.”
Customers must be signed-up Amazon Prime members with a default payment and shipping address.
