Amazon Prime Now expands in UK

UK Amazon Prime members can now have same day delivery on more than 15,000 SKUs in a number of new postcodes in Surrey including Camberley, Lightwater and Aldershot under the Prime Now scheme.

“Prime Now is our fastest delivery option ever and from today Prime customers in Surrey can get the items they need quickly delivered right to the door in under an hour,” said Jason Weston, director of Amazon’s Prime Now service in the UK. “Whether it’s essentials like fresh milk or nappies, or even a last minute gift, customers love the convenience of delivery straight to their door in less than sixty minutes.”

Amazon Prime members can choose a delivery within an hour of ordering for £6.99 using a special app or have free delivery with a choice of two hour windows on the same day between 0800 – 000, seven days a week. Currently the two hour delivery windows are available in parts of Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.

Prime Now has been operating in London since June 2015 and the online giant has expanded the service rapidly across the UK. It can be accessed from Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool as well as the Home Counties named above.

Prime members can download the Prime Now app that is available on iOS and Android to find eligible delivery postcodes and can also request notification when the service will be in their area. Alternatively they can visit www.amazon.co.uk/primenow to discover eligible delivery postcodes.

The UK, with its relatively advanced e-commerce market, is a major interest for Amazon which seems to be developing its infrastructure here almost as quickly as it is in parts of the US. It won’t be long before all major cities in the UK are within reach of Amazon Prime Now.
