Amazon Prime Now expands to Glasgow

Select areas of Glasgow are now eligible for Amazon Prime Now, including Parkhead, Paisley, and Shawlands. Those buying from Amazon have a selection of 15,000 SKUs and can opt for one hour delivery for £6.99, or free delivery within a choice of two hour, same day delivery between 10am and 10pm, seven days a week.

In addition, two hour delivery windows will now be available in Cumbernauld, Kilmarnock and Motherwell.

Customer can buy essentials such as nappies, coffee, chocolate and fresh milk, as well as a range of not so frequently purchased items such as games consoles, gifts, toys and sports equipment by using a mobile app.

“From today, Prime customers in Glasgow can get the items they need quickly delivered right to the door in under an hour,” said Jason Weston, director of Amazon’s Prime Now service in the UK.

Amazon Prime Now had its UK launch in London in 2015 and is now available to more than 30% of the UK population. In addition to London and Glasgow, cities and regions covered by the service include:  Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Portsmouth, South Yorkshire and Surrey.

Today’s Scottish launch of Prime Now follows the introduction last year of the Prime Same Day service to Prime Members in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Orders placed by noon are delivered between 6pm and 10pm the same day, seven days a week – at no additional cost to their Prime membership.

One-day delivery is available to all Prime members across the UK.
