Amazon UK Services sees 200% increase in profit

The company that operates Amazon’s fulfilment centres in the UK, Amazon UK Services, sort turnover increased by 36% to £1.99 million in the last financial year.

Operating profit for the Amazon company was up to £79.8 million, a 200% increase on last year.

Amazon UK Services opened several new fulfilment centres and expanded its delivery network across the UK both increasing turnover and headcount.

They are to be four new Amazon fulfilment centres in the UK this year: Bristol, Rugby, Bolton and Coventry.

The Amazon subsidiary as also said that by the end of the year it expects to employ more than 27,500 people at its operations in the UK, which includes not just the fulfilment centres and delivery operations, but development centres in Edinburgh, Cambridge and London. In addition the Amazon Web services datacentre, the head office and fashion photography studio in London are included in this figure.

At present Amazon has 16 fulfilment centres in the UK, three in Doncaster and one each in Coalville, Dunfermline, Daventry, Dunstable, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Rugeley, Swansea Bay, Tilbury and Warrington.
