Irish postal operator An Post and supermarket chain Lidl have agreed to set up parcel lockers in Lidl car parks.

When ordering online, customers in Dublin and surrounding areas have the choice of having their parcels delivered to these lockers, seven of the nine of which will be open 24/7.

As normal, the customer is given one-time access details and this is free of charge. At the moment however the An Post lockers are only for in-flight redirections though there are plans to allow customers to ask for it to be placed in a locker should they receive a ‘Sorry we missed you’ card.

The tie up is an extension of the relationship between An Post and Lidl – An Post Current Account holders are already offered a 5% cash back deal on all purchases of over €25 at Lidl.

“People love the flexibility of the parcel lockers and as one of Ireland’s fastest growing retailers, Lidl stores are in great locations,” said Gilles Ferrandez, An Post’s commercial director – parcels.
