Apaczka acquires Sendit

Polish e-commerce logistics solutions provider Apaczka has acquired Polish parcel delivery platform Sendit. The acquisition was backed by Central European private equity investor Abris Capital Partners.

The end-to-end multi-carriers shipment intermediary Apaczka is the largest online logistics platform in Poland, specialising in SMEs and SOHO (small office/home office) business clients. It works with major carriers including DPD, DHL, FedEx, InPost and UPS. The private equity firm Abris Cole acquired Apaczka late last year with plans to capitalise on the growth of e-commerce globally.

Developed in 2012 as part of the Allegro group in Poland, Sendit is one of the fastest growing online platforms in the country, and offers clients both domestic and international courier services. Its customers can order parcels online and have them collected from and delivered to any given location. To date it has already shipped more than 17 million parcels.

The result of the acquisition will be Apaczka transforming from a traditional parcel broker into a technology-driven, Software as a Service (SaaS) e-commerce shipping solutions business. It will develop its offerings toward different customer groups including B2C, B2B and C2X.

The merger of the two businesses will support Apaczka’s transition from a traditional parcel broker model into a technology-driven provider of e-commerce shipping solutions with a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering model. Following the merger, Apaczka will target further consolidation and technological leadership through digital transformation, with new services dedicated to different customer groups (B2C, B2B and C2X).

Marcin Susmanek, COO of Apaczka, says: “We are consistently pursuing our strategy of consolidating the logistics platform market. This transaction will allow us to provide advanced solutions to the broadened universe of clients to support their business activities. It will create a unique platform, offering wide range of tools for e-commerce customers – SMEs in particular, but also larger businesses and consumers.”

Edgar Kolesnik, partner at Abris Capital Partners, adds: “Since acquiring Apaczka, we have been proud to support its dynamic growth, while planning our ambitious buy-and-build strategy. We will continue to capitalize on the strong growth of the underlying e-commerce sector, as well as investing in the logistics technology platform and pursuing international expansion, as we seek to grow Apaczka further. We will also focus on further strengthening the merged teams, developing talents with experience in SaaS, M&A and marketing.”
