ArrowXL commits to rebuilding in Worcester

ArrowXL, the two man home delivery specialist has signed a two year lease on a warehouse and distribution centre in Droitwich Spa. This comes after ArrowXL announced plans to rebuild its warehouse and DC in Worcester that was destroyed in a fire in April.

The delivery firm is to move in and start operating out of the 160,000 square foot until from early next month.

Immediately after the Worcester fire, ArrowXL opened a warehouse in Chepstow and ran a daily shuttle bus service for employees from the Worcester area.

In a statement, ArrowXL said it has now chosen the location in Droitwich Spa “as part of its commitment to those team members, who will now benefit from a shorter commute”.

The firm is to continue using the Chepstow unit as well as the Droitwich Spa facility. Between them they will have a combined 311,000 square foot of warehouse space. Those from Worcester working in Chepstow will continue being offered free transport.

The Worcester refurbishment and rebuilding is set to last around two years and will be supported by its national infrastructure elsewhere in the UK as well as the two centres in South Wales and the Midlands.

Ian Howell, CEO of ArrowXL, said: “I am extremely proud of how the whole ArrowXL family has reacted and responded to the fire. The team has spent considerable time sourcing and preparing the Droitwich site, which will enable our business to continue providing exceptional levels of service to the UK retail industry.

“We are also excited to confirm that plans are currently in place to rebuild our Worcester facility, which we anticipate will reopen in 2019. In the meantime, we will continue to support all employees from the area, which includes the free shuttle bus service from Worcester to Chepstow.
