Two man delivery specialist ArrowXL has announced it has completed the expansion of its Wigan warehouse. The firm spent £1.7 million on a new high bay pallet racking system on the site.
According to ArrowXL, the new racking is 15 metres high and has 17,000 pallet spaces. It has also upgraded the flooring, high-tech lighting installations as well as sprinkler systems. This last aspect comes after a fire almost destroyed ArrowXL’s Worchester site earlier on this year, leading to a temporary loss of activities from the site.
“The completion of this substantial investment project ensures we can now offer an increased number of warehousing and fulfilment opportunities to leading retailers, manufacturers and their associated suppliers,” said Ian Howell, chief executive, ArrowXL. “We are committed to supporting the local economy and we thank Ms. Nandy for taking the time to visit our premises.”
The extension, which is set to generate 50 new jobs for the area, was visited by local MP Lisa Nandy last week.
Arrow XL, with its two man heavy item home delivery specialism, is responding to an increased demand for goods such as washing machines and fridges bought online instead of from shopping mall outlets. It seems to be going from strength to strength as the market in this niche grows.
