Asendia UK appoints Simon Batt as CEO

Simon Batt is to be CEO of Asendia UK following its acquisition of wnDirect that was completed in January this year.

The Groupe la Post and Swiss Post joint venture acquired wnDirect with a view to creating a larger e-commerce business offering a greater range of delivery and postal services, mail solutions and fulfilment capabilities. The two companies will, over a period of time, fully merge and operate under the single brand of Asendia UK.

Speaking about the acquisition Simon Batt, said: “Asendia and wnDirect were seen as a very good fit as their strategies and ambitions are aligned and, together, they offer a much broader range of e-commerce, mail and fulfilment services. With wnDirect now onboard, customers will benefit from new options including wnDirect’s global commercial delivery network, and innovations including PUDO (Pick-Up-Drop-Off) and Return solutions, which we’ll offer to our customers in the UK and worldwide.”

Marc Pontet, Chief Executive Officer of Asendia Group: “We are delighted that wnDirect is joining the Asendia Group. wnDirect is a perfect complement to our existing business. On behalf of all of Asendia’s 1,500 staff around the world, as well as our shareholders Swiss Post and Groupe La Poste, I welcome the entire wnDirect team to Asendia.”

Formed in 2012 the Asendia Group is a joint venture between Group La Poste and Swiss Post, and has a presence in 15 countries.
