Australia Post has announced a number of price freezes and promotions during the national postal service’s reorganisation.
The postal service is offering a 25% discount on pre sorted promotional mail, which forms a major part of Australia Post’s business in the face of declining business and personal letter deliveries. For nonprofits and charities, the discount will be even larger.
It has also promised to keep the Priority stamp price at no more than 1.5 times the Regular Service stamp price. For the 5.7 million Australians entitled to concessional mail, Australia Post is limiting the cost of a stamp to 60 cents, and for greetings cards this will be limited to 65 cents.
In the same statement to the media, the postal service has promised to work closely with unions to ensure that staff will be redeployed where possible and that there will be no compulsory redundancies.
