A 30% growth in Austrian parcel volumes helped Austrian Post towards 8.3% of revenue growth for the full financial year 2020. The surge in parcel volumes offset a 7% letter mail volume decline. In addition its Turkish parcel volumes grew by 37%.
According to the postal operator, the pandemic drove a slump in the first quarter of the year but this was more than offset with strong growth in Q3 and Q4.
“We succeeded in maintaining the safety and health of employees as well as the business performance of Austrian Post. Against the backdrop of current framework conditions, the results in the past financial year can be considered as entirely satisfactory” says CEO Georg Pölzl.
In this financial year the postal operator projects an earnings growth of 10%, and plans to expand its capacity. “Our special thanks go to the employees and the partners of Austrian Post. All of them were working strenuously on a daily basis during the challenging fourth quarter to ensure that Austrian Post customers receive their parcels on time in spite of record parcel volumes”, states Georg Pölzl. “This is the basis for our quality leadership. Together we will manage to continue being the preferred partner of our customers”, concludes Pölzl.
