After being given the brush off by PostNL last week, bpost has made a move aimed at strengthening its parcel division with ‘complimentary logistical knowhow’ by buying 100% of the shares of DynaGroup.
Bpost has said that the purchase of the whole of DynaGroup as well as its business units Dynafix, Dynalogic, Dynasure and Dynalinq will enable bpost to add further logistical solutions to services for its e-commerce customers.
After the successful acquisition, the Belgian postal operator now takes another step in its growth and diversification strategy toward greater proximity and convenience.
Bpost’s new acquisition DynaGroup generated €88.5 million in turnover in 2014-15. It offers a range of technical services and software that include the repair of electronics (from coffee machines to smartphones) and personalised e-commerce delivery services for both small products (ranging from passports to smartphones with contract finalization on the doorstep) and large consumer products (such as the delivery and installation of washing machines).
The announcement of the acquisition follows on from bpost’s buy out of the Belgian activities of Lagardere Travel Retail as well as a persistent and repeated series of attempts to buy PostNL.
Koen Van Gerven, CEO of bpost, commented: “On the one hand, the logistical activities of DynaGroup are close to our own core businesses. On the other hand, it has successfully specialized in integrated end-to-end solutions and software, which offer clear added value to our parcels customers. In DynaGroup we have found an important complementary strategic partner and I look forward to continuing the pursuit of our ambitions in the parcel sector together.”
DynaGroup will continue to operate under its own name as an independent division within bpost.
