Buyk hires James Walker as CEO

New York based q-commerce and restaurant delivery player Buyk has hired a new CEO, James Walker, as its principal founder Slava Bocharov joins co-founder Rodion Shiskov in overseeing the delivery company’s strategic vision and fundraising efforts.

Walker was senior vice president of Nathan’s Famous fast food chain and has more than 30 years’ experience of senior management experience in hospitality and retail. At Nathan’s Famous he oversaw the opening of more than 300 dark kitchens in the US and at other locations around the world.

Buyk launched its 15-minute delivery service in New York in September and has plans to expand into a number of other US cities in fairly short order.

“We feel that his expertise and experience in scaling businesses and bringing them to new markets are a valuable asset, and totally align with our goal of making Buyk a household name, first in the US, and then globally,” Bocharov said in a statement, noting that Walker shares the co-founders’ vision on where the retail industry is headed.

Walker will look after day-to-day operations, organisational development, new product development and partnerships for Buyk while its founders, who previously founded the large q-commerce firm Samokat in Russia, will look at means of growing Buyk’s business in the US.
