Ireland based on-demand grocery delivery company Buymie is to launch its UK business in Bristol.
Buymie is an on-demand grocery delivery company that works into Tesco, Asda and Co-op among other grocery companies. Teams of personal shoppers pick and deliver the orders made on the app, taking to the customer within the hour.
The same-day delivery company uses an algorithm called ‘Jarvis’ that allows the customer to choose from thousands of brands on their mobile device.
Buymie was founded in 2015 by Devan Hughes and Artavazd Sokhikyan and has seen a 500% year on year growth rate. Kevin Hughes is the chief product officer and has worked at Google and Airbnb.
As part of its interest in sustainability, the personal shoppers are given travel guidance to avoid congestion, and in its next multimillion pound investment round it plans to invest in Tesla electric vehicles and e-cargo-bikes to minimise the carbon footprint of its deliveries.
The company said it had chosen Bristol to kickstart its UK operations and to “become immersed in the city’s thriving tech sector.”
