There is to be a £15 million pot of money for testing connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) available from the UK government. The Centre for CAVs (CCAVs) has the money to invest in projects that use simulation and modelling in the development of approvals and standards for autonomous and connected vehicles.
According to reports, the UK government say that there should be CAVs on the UK’s roads by 2021.
In a statement, Innovate UK said: “Testing physical vehicles in all conceivable situations is likely to be expensive and time-consuming. Development of connected and autonomous vehicles and battery technologies is therefore a core part of government’s Industrial Strategy.”
