CEVA Logistics robots achieve triple digit efficiencies

In bringing Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) into use at its Truganina warehouse near Melbourne, Australia, CEVA Logistics has achieved a 400% increase in speed of operations.

The AMRs are ‘goods-to person’ robots that have significantly sped up picking rates at the 250,000 square metre facility. They take the shelf to the picker, who then packs the goods. Each robot can carry up to 500kg and are controlled from a centralised control system.

The Geek+ robots are in themselves a standard solution that can be scalable to work with many of CEVA Logistics’ clients around the world.

Milton Pimenta, CEVA Logistics’ Managing Director Australia and New Zealand said: “With the scale of CEVA’s operation at the super-site we could immediately see this AMR solution was a very fast and efficient picking productivity and throughput option for us. AMR is the future for e-commerce operations, and we are excited to stay ahead of the competition in offering this kind of solution.”

It is expected that CEVA is to roll out similar solutions to its other clients’ sites around the world as required, helping drive efficiencies into the supply chain.
