Despite the impact of the pandemic, China’s postal industry still registered higher revenue and business volume in the first four months of 2020 according to local media reports.
Between January and April the industry’s business revenue grew to RMB 309.02 billion (GBP £35.88 billion), up 5.4% on the same period in 2019 according to the State Post Bureau.
Business volumes are 14% up on the same period in 2019. In April the pandemic enabled this growth to hit 31.1% compared to April 2019.
Express delivery, the backbone of China’s postal industry, also saw strong growth in the first four months with an 11.5% growth in deliveries to 19.03 billion deliveries. Business revenue across the sector grew 5.6% to RMB225.49 billion (GBP £26.18bn).
