UK delivery network CitySprint has announced it saw an increase in DIY and home improvement deliveries of more than 170% across the recent bank holiday compared to the same weekend in 2019.
This was a spike in what has already been a busy segment for CitySprint, which has seen a 123% increase in demand across the year for these deliveries.
The e-commerce boom brought about by the pandemic have driven these figures. The company is looking to leverage the DIY and home improvement segment even further in the coming months.
Darren Taylor, Business Solutions Director at CitySprint, commented: “DIY deliveries are often bulky and high-weight, making logistics and fulfilment a less straightforward proposition for these retailers compared to their counterparts in areas like electronics or fashion. But fast and convenient home deliveries are still a relatively under-exploited area in the DIY sector. These figures clearly show that the appetite for this from consumers is there.”
