CMA CGM and PSA to run new container terminal in Singapore

A new joint venture between container shipping line CMA CGM and PSA Singapore Terminals will be called CMA CGM-PSA Lion Terminal (CPLT). Once operational the new company will operate and use four mega container berths of the Pasir Panjang Terminal phases III and IV in Singapore.

The new joint venture, CPLT is expected to commence operations in the next couple of months.

CMA CGM say that the new joint venture will enable the company as well as its shipping line affiliates to leverage port infrastructure and technologies at the latest expansion of the Pasir Panjang port, which will serve mega container ships that ply the region.

CPLT will offer long-term terminal services to CMA CGM and its shipping line affiliates.

CMA CGM Group vice chairman Rodolphe Saadé said, “CMA CGM is pleased to announce this important partnership with PSA.

“It is a significant step, demonstrating the ongoing importance of Singapore to our strategy, and delivering on our commitment to making Singapore the Asian hub for the Group.”

PSA International Group CEO Tan Chong Meng said, “PSA looks forward to working alongside CMA CGM to ensure that its hub operations flourish, and enhance Singapore’s premier status as the world’s busiest transhipment hub.”

CMA CGM, which has around 536 vessels, provides sea, land and logistics solutions to its customers.
