The Cooperative grocery chain and Deliveroo are working together on a pilot home delivery service in the Greater Manchester area.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Cooperative said: “We are a leading convenience retailer and have launched an exciting partnership with Deliveroo to make access to our products and services even easier for consumers. This small trial will focus on beers, wines and spirits as well as snacks and confectionary and will be limited to the Greater Manchester area.”
The pilot is taking place at five stores in the Greater Manchester area: Corporation Street (Manchester City Centre), Vimto Gardens (Salford), Wilbraham Road (Chorlton), Heald Green (Cheadle) and West Didsbury (Didsbury).
According to the Cooperative statement, party packs, beers, wines and spirits as well as snacks and confectionary are available via Deliveroo’s website.
With the online delivery segment performing to strongly across all grocery retailers, the Cooperative has indicated that it wishes to be a major player in this highly competitive area of business. The Deliveroo pilot could well give it a great reach across the UK.
