Big fish hot food delivery company Deliveroo has launched a new service called Marketplace+ where restaurants that make deliveries using their own rider fleets can use Deliveroo drivers as well or instead.
In a statement, Deliveroo said: “This new service is being rolled out globally this year, launching in Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong and the UK and Ireland in July.”
According to Deliveroo this means that Marketplace+ is going to offer customers and customers more choice.
Under the Deliveroo offering, restaurants can use their own fleets and also have access to the 15,000 strong UK fleet of riders – which is now 35,000 strong across its international network.
Consumers will have more meal choices, because Deliveroo estimates this move will “increase the number of restaurants on the platform by 50%”.
In its UK-focused statement, the company outlined how its growth plans: “By the end of the year Deliveroo will expand into 50 new towns and cities in the UK, many of which will offer this new service. Within a year Deliveroo will be able to reach almost 6 million new UK customers.”
