In its latest trading statement for the third quarter of 2021, Deutsche Post DHL reported net earnings before tax of €1.765 billion, up from €1.377bn in 2020. This has been impacted somewhat by a Covid-19 bonus of €163 million that will be paid to all non-executive staff of Q4 of the year.
“In the first nine months of the current year, we have already exceeded previous year’s full-year result. Global trade accelerated significantly compared to the previous year. At the same time, shipment volumes in e-commerce remained high. Therefore we are optimistic for the oncoming peak season”, said Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post DHL Group. “We are now intensively preparing ourselves for potential record breaking shipment volumes in the coming weeks and have deliberately built up capacity in the third quarter, in order to be able to offer our customers continued high quality service.”
Amongst other segments, net profit was €970 million in Q3 at DHL Express, and Supply Chain earned €140 million in the same period. eCommerce Solutions took €90 million, and Post & Parcel Germany had profits of around €300 million in the period. All four of these segments saw strong growth in the third quarter as against 2020.
