German media reports that Deutsche Post DHL is set to divest its electric vehicle startup StreetScooter.
Speaking last Thursday night at the Wirtschaftspresseclub in Stuttgart, CEO of Deutsche Post Frank Appel said: “But we are in no hurry, we will not get rid of it at any cost.”
Streetscooter, a start-up from Aachen University of Technology, was acquired by Deutsche Post DHL in 2014.
Thanks to DHL’s involvement the company is now the German market leader in electric light utility vehicles, having now sold 10,000 vehicles. Yamato, the biggest Japanese logistics services provider, ordered some 500 of them.
Deutsche Post DHL is reportedly in talks with various manufacturers.
