DHL is adding nine countries to its DHL Africa eShop service. This now means the platform is available to residents of 20 African countries.
The DHL Africa eShop retail app went live in April, opening African markets to 200 US and UK sellers.
Africa eShop operates using startup MallforAfrica.com’s white label fulfillment service, Link Commerce . Payment methods include local fintech options, such as Nigeria’s Paga and Kenya’s M-Pesa.
While in many countries in Africa, e-commerce is relatively new, the continent’s biggest e-retailer Jumia went public and raised over $200 million in an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange.
DHL’s app takes advantage of the shipping giant’s existing delivery structure on the continent, able to get goods to doorsteps through its DHL Express courier service.
