DHL Express has opened a new service centre at Al Ain in the UAE, close to the border with Oman. With the building of a new railway through the city, this will potentially be an important node in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The new service centre, at the Al Ain Industrial Area, will compliment the other recently opened units in Meydan and Abu Dhabi that are used to sort and distribute deliveries. The Al Ain centre will also have a retail service point so clients from the area can access DHL Express’s services.
Al Ain is slated as being the city where the GCC Railway Network will link between the UAE and Oman in the next five years. As such the city has potential for great growth as it becomes an important inland economic hub.
Country Manager for DHL Express Frank-Uwe Ungerer, said of the new centre,
“As the country’s economy goes from strength to strength, it is important to remember that growth is not limited to major cities such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai, but can be seen across the emirates in cities such as Al Ain.”
