DHL moves into wearable tech

International logistics company DHL Supply Chain UK is to partner with electronics giant Fujitsu to develop new services through wearable technology and the Internet of Things (IoT). The new partnership has been founded to develop innovative solutions for emergency services as well as to develop new markets such as airline logistics.

The new DHL / Fujitsu service will include the use of wearable and IoT technology to enable emergency services to track the wellbeing of those working in the field using a dashboard that displays their status and location.

Such technology has yet to hit maturity but will be moving very quickly in the next few years. The partnership between DHL and Fujitsu should take it from running and fitness geeks to penetration of a whole range of industries.
