DHL pulls out of Germany AmazonFresh deliveries

DHL has ended its contract with Amazon to deliver fresh food in Germany.

“We can confirm that we have decided to discontinue our cooperation with Amazon Fresh in the delivery of fresh food until further notice,” a company spokeswoman said on Tuesday evening in Bonn. The market for online fresh food remains “far below expectations”.

“Due to this fact and the complexity of the entire process, we have significantly reduced our activities in this area,” the DHL spokeswoman continued.

The contract has already ended and Amazon has been doing the deliveries through its own network.

The partnership has been going for just over two years. Amazon said that the company does not comment on contractual relationships with business partners. “We regularly review our offerings and ensure that we deliver the best customer experience in the areas that we believe will always be important to customers: low prices, large choice and fast delivery,” said Amazon.
