DHL Supply Chain to work with Compass

DHL Supply Chain has signed a strategic partnership deal with catering company Compass UK & Ireland to provide catering services to customers in the facilities management, rail, public sector and airline industries.

DHL Supply Chain will work collaboratively with Compass to deliver end to end supply chain solutions and oversee the flow of product and the management of waste. The global logistics business will also bring its sector expertise in final mile operations, lean techniques and business analytics to create a platform for continuous improvement. Compass Group in turn will leverage its network of supplier relationships and food services technology solutions to drive the creation, procurement, sourcing and delivery of innovative and cost effective menus.

MD of business & industry at Compass Group UK and Ireland, Andrew Barry said, “This partnership allows us to stay true to our core focus and expertise of food service whilst building on DHL’s strong existing customer base in the Passenger Gateways sector. We will use our respective key strengths to bring a new level of service and innovation to current and future clients in this market.”

DHL has been investing heavily in expanding its food service offering and supply chain solutions in the UK. It has won major contracts with airline contracts and diversified into the railway sector.
Paul Richardson, MD, Specialist Services at DHL Supply Chain said: “Together we will be able to enhance our proposition as a foodservice provider, offering innovative solutions that provide our customers with even greater choice, cost transparency and quality. We are looking forward to growing in this sector with Compass at our side.”

The two companies are major players in their own sectors and this strategic partnership should considerably boost their offerings in catering and the food supply chain.
