In support of the Costa Rica National Emergency Commission, Deutsche Post DHL has activated its Disaster Response Team (DRT) to provide support for the coronavirus hit Caribbean country.
The DHL DRT is a group of specially trained employee volunteers that work at the DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express bases in Costa Rica. It has been in operation since April 1 and is set to continue until the middle of this month.
The Costa Rican government is working with DHL’s DRT team under a Memorandum of Understanding agreed between the government and DHL in 2009. “Our company purpose is to connect people and improve lives,” said Gilberto Castro, Americas DRT Coordinator, Deutsche Post DHL Group. “Our DRT volunteers support our company purpose. They are highly-trained employee volunteers who provide logistics expertise to help coordinate humanitarian logistics during emergency response situations.”
