DHL has partnered with global address location company what3words to allow UK customers to give their precise delivery location on the DHL Parcel app.
What3words divides the world up into 3m x 3m squares, for which every square has a three word name. For DHL this means an extremely precise location can be given as to where the parcel should be dropped off.
Common house and business addresses can be confusing and lead to missed or late deliveries. Research suggests that 74% of the UK population say that delivery companies have difficulty locating their address. Further, 56% say they will not shop with a retailer again following a poor delivery experience.
For DHL drivers, what3words allows them to get more deliveries right, first time. That reduces time on each drop and for the company, reduces its carbon emissions as drivers spend less time driving between locations trying to find the correct address.
“New technology plays an important role in improving operations, reducing costs and enhancing customer service,” says Chris Sheldrick, Co-founder and CEO of what3words, “DHL continues to innovate in its approach, and we’re looking forward to helping their drivers find and make deliveries with ease, giving customers the peace of mind that their parcel will arrive exactly where it needs to go.”
