Final mile delivery company DPD has launched an ‘in-app’ parcel sending service that will enable its consumers to send parcels anywhere in the UK as well as to more than 20 countries around Europe.
The new ‘send parcel’ feature, according to a statement from DPD, provides a simple, paperless process.
“There is no need to print a label,” said DPD, “the app’s shop finder function helps to locate the nearest DPD Pickup shops and the user then simply has to show the QR code generated within the app when they drop off the parcel at their chosen shop.”
According to the statement the ‘sent parcels’ section in the DPD app shows all the parcels that the user has sent in one place, tracking them at every stage, with push notifications when the parcels are picked up from the shop until they are successfully delivered.
The company also reported that the “Your DPD” app – which was launched in May 2016 – now has close to 3 million users in the UK.
DPD’s CEO Dwain McDonald commented: “The app has been hugely popular with consumers as it gives them a number of exclusive benefits. As a result, we get loads of feedback from app users and in-app shipping was something a lot of people have been asking for.
“Consumers told us that they don’t always find sending parcels that straightforward. So, we’ve created a really intuitive and streamlined process, that is ideal for the occasional sender. Plus, they get the peace of mind of knowing they can track their sent parcels and the recipient will get the full DPD Predict service, with all the usual in-flight options.”
