Dwain McDonald fired from DPD with immediate effect

DPD UK’s Chief Executive Dwain McDonald has been fired from his job after what DPD referred to as an ‘internal investigation’. No details of the investigation have been released or the findings of it. DPD has declined to say why McDonald was sacked.

McDonald has worked for DPD for 33 years having joined the company as a salesman in 1988.

Yves Delmas, DPD’s chief operating officer for Europe, emailed staff on Monday to inform them: “Following an internal investigation, Dwain McDonald has today left the business with immediate effect.”

Delmas, who refused to explain the reason for the sacking, is now to be interim CEO of DPD UK. Attempts to contact McDonald by media outlets for an explanation have resulted in no response. He has been in trouble before, admitting using his mobile phone while driving to film a DPD van on the motorway in 2016. The delivery company continued to allow him to remain in his £1m a year post after that.
