E-cargo-trike RadBurro gets EU roads approval

The Rad Power Bikes RadBurro e-cargo-trike has been given European approval to operate on its roads. It is to be shown off for the first time in Europe at the CiTTi exhibition at the Arena MK on the 18th and 19th June 2019.

The RadBurro e-cargo trike has 1,500 watts of electric power and delivers 300Nm of torque. It has a range of up to 130km of range and a top speed of 35km/h. With these elements the rider will have to have the same equipment and licensing as a moped user would.

The battery is 2.52kWh which can be hot-swapped, and its frame can be adjusted for flatbed, truck bed and cargo box configurations.

The machine is still an ‘e-bike’ in that the rider will still have to give input to the pedals and will only go as fast as the rider is capable, though it has a twist grip throttle as well. It was first launched in the US in 2018 and is being used by a wide range of companies from delivery companies to government and municipal organisations.

“We built the RadBurro to be a realistic, versatile, and affordable last-mile alternative that can help solve many of the transportation challenges that businesses and government programs face today,” said Rad Power Bikes European commercial specialist Teun Kruijff.  “This type-approval means we can bring a powerful, proven solution to customers across Europe who are working to improve their operations and eliminate their carbon emissions.”
