US customers of eBay will soon be able to use eBay Managed Delivery, a fulfilment service offering sellers the ability to store, pack and ship SKUs through eBay’s logistics partners. This goes head to head with Fulfilled By Amazon (FBA).
eBay Managed Delivery is set to launch next year. It is an opportunity for customers to store their inventory closer to target markets across the country.
“A common request we hear from our high-velocity sellers is to help make delivery of high-volume items easy and fast,” said Devin Wenig, eBay President and CEO. “Managed Delivery will be a competitively-priced logistics solution for businesses selling high-volume goods in popular categories like electronics, home and garden, and fashion. The implementation of this service will dramatically lessen the shipping burden on sellers, while improving the shopping experience and making unboxing fun for buyers.”
The online marketplace is to use third party logistics companies and will enable sellers to manage their goods through a new online platform. Sellers will also be able to offer free shipping at a lower cost to themselves as well as get their goods to their customers far more quickly.
