Eesti Post to continue as Estonia’s main postal operator

Estonia’s Eesti Post’s universal postal service (UPS) license has been renewed for another five years by the government.

The new licence period comes into effect on 9 October.

Local sources say that Eesti Post, now part of the pan Baltic Omniva Group, was the only company to bid for the license.

In a notice posted on its website last week, Omnniva said: “The universal postal service consists of domestic and international postal services: the clearance of items of correspondence in ordinary, registered and insured items up to two kilograms and the delivery of registered parcels up to 20 kilograms in registered and insured items. The geographical area of universal postal service provision is the whole of Estonia and the license is issued for five years (09 October 2019 to 8 October 2024).”
