FedEx gives $1.1m to small businesses

FedEx Corp has awarded two hundred US businesses $5,500 in grant funding under its #SupportSmall grants programme.

Over 50,000 companies applied for the grant, which is composed of a $5,000 cheque and a $500 credit in FedEx Office® print and business services.

According to FedEx, 43% of the grant recipients say they will use their money to enhance or upgrade their website. A further 40% are to use it for marketing or advertising and 16% of them will create an online store. Around 47% of the grants went to minority and women-owned businesses.

“We are proud to help these entrepreneurs navigate this challenging environment and are thrilled to see many of them use this grant to pivot from ‘brick and mortar’ to ‘click and mortar,’” said Brie Carere, executive vice president, chief marketing & communications officer, FedEx. “Small businesses are the backbone of communities across the country, which is why we will continue to help them keep moving forward.”
