FedEx orders 20 Tesla semi-trucks

FedEx has joined the queue for some Tesla semi-trucks. The US logistics giant ordered 20 of the fully electric, long haul HGV tractors.

The Tesla semis will be operated by FedEx Freight when they are delivered in 2019.

“FedEx has a long history of innovation and incorporating sustainability efforts throughout its global network,” said FedEx Freight president and CEO Mike Ducker. “Our investment in these trucks is part of our commitment to improving road safety while also reducing our environmental impact.”

While being the longest range fully electric trucks of the payload capacity on the market, the new FedEx trucks have a range of technologies and safety features that include360 degree vision cameras that should improve their safety on city streets.
