Ford buys self-driving vehicle company

As part of its self driving vehicle technology interests, Ford has bought Quantum Signal, a software firm that specialises in sensing, perception and real-time simulation and algorithm development.

Ford said: “The wide range of the group’s work portfolio means it will be able to support Ford in numerous areas as the company develops self-driving vehicles and transport as a service business, including software development and hardware prototyping.”

Quantum signal has been operating since 1999 and works on mobile robotics with the US Military a major customer.
