French online sales grow strongly

The France based Fevad e-commerce federation has projected that French consumers are set to spend €19bn over the coming peak season, which will take total online retail sales to more than €90bn for 2018.

Amazon has recently started to invest heavily in France, and this has upped competition among the existing big players such as Carrefour, making for an engaging e-commerce market in a growing wider French economy.

Black Friday is set to be November 23 and Cyber Monday is on the 26th. This should see a peak in online sales traffic as part of the wider peak season up to Christmas and January Sales.

Fevad estimated that during the Black Friday weekend, online retail sales could hit €1.3bn.

Last year the French e-commerce market was worth €81.7 billion and represented 8.7% of all retail sales in the country, one per cent more than the year before. As a whole, the French economy is set to grow by 0.4% in Q4.
