DPD Geopost, a wholly owned subsidiary of La Poste, has bought franchisee DPD Altentreptow, bringing its stake in DPD to 93.79% with one other shareholder left in the company.
DPD Geopost has bought DPD Altentreptow from freight forwarders Gertner, that serves Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. No jobs will be lost and there will be no interruption in service.
DPD CEO Boris Winkelmann said that this move was to improve efficiency throughout the business. The firm bought out another share holder DPD Systemlogistik earlier this year as part of its plans for rationalisation of the whole business. Now, 73 of Germany’s 76 DPD facilities are in Geoposts’s hands. Only DPD Zitfracht GMBH holds another stake in the business, with Geopost the majority shareholder.
