Stamps.com owned US owned international carrier GlobalPost has announced a new service to Canada where customs charges are paid and paperwork handled during the delivery process.
The USPS Canada Delivered Duties Paid (DDP) service has been arranged for stamps.com and Endicia customers.
The service allows customers sending USPS First Class Packages International Service parcels to prepay duties and taxes as part of the delivery service, for an additional flat fee of $6.95. This allows parcels to be sent directly to the customer’s door with no fees paid to release it, or having to travel to the Customs Office to collect it.
The GlobalPost DDP service is offered on both its clients’ software. The shippers pay for the shipment as well as duties and taxes before the parcel is sent. GlobalPost then handles all of the paperwork and charges for the customs clearance.
“We’re thrilled to offer the GlobalPost USPS Canada DDP product to our Stamps.com and Endicia customers,” said Ken McBride, Chairman and CEO of Stamps.com, the GlobalPost parent company. “We’re always looking for ways to eliminate friction between buyers and sellers. Canada DDP reduces hassle, increases peace of mind and helps get orders into the hands of Canadian buyers faster. We think it’s going to be a real game changer for online shoppers in Canada.”
