GLS Group and DB Schenker have signed a non exclusive agreement to form a strategic partnership across the European Economic Area.
Under the agreement, DB Schenker will be able to offer a pan European parcel service while GLS will expand its freight business.
What this means is that GLS will deliver parcels for DB Schenker Logistics, while DB Schenker will handle pallets for GLS.
DB Schenker was attracted to the deal by being able to offer an ‘all in one solution’ to clients who wish to ship their goods in from outside the EEA.
The two companies already have national level agreements in some countries but this will significantly extend the reach for both companies. DB Schenker already has parcel delivery businesses in Scandinavia, while GLS has freight services in the Netherlands and Belgium. Both have partnerships with other firms in parcels and logistics.
