Royal Mail owned GLS Ireland has more than doubled the amount of ParcelShop pickup/drop-off (PUDO) points to some 400 outlets across Ireland.
The additions come from a partnership with ParcelDirect, which in turn works with an association of Spar supermarkets and filling stations – giving the company reach into rural areas.
Andreas Rickert, Managing Director of GLS Ireland comments: “Web shops and their customers particularly stand to benefit from the expansion of our network.
“With its FlexDeliveryService, GLS gives parcel recipients the option to have their orders sent to a ParcelShop of their choice or set a specific delivery time, for example. If the merchant chooses ShopReturnService, consumers can drop off returns in ParcelShops free of charge.”
GLS Ireland is not the first carrier to expand its PUDO network in recent weeks – this delivery option is increasingly seen as a cheaper, more environmentally sustainable option than multiple delivery attempts to inconvenienced customers.
