Low Countries postal operator PostNL has reported that it delivered around 32.9 million parcels in the Netherlands and neighbouring Belgium over the holiday period of 2017.
In a statement, Leendert-Jan Plaisier, director of operations at PostNL Parcels. commented: “We got the job done together with our partners in the e-commerce sector, and that’s something to be very proud of.
“More and more customers are embracing the convenience offered by online shopping.
“We are delivering parcels in the evening and on Sundays more often and more and more parcels are being picked up from a parcel point.”
Such growth is commonplace across the parcels sector around the EU and the rest of the world, with strong growth in e-commerce driving parcels offsetting falls in letter mail deliveries.
