Furniture and interior decor retailer Habitat has signed up Panther Warehousing to deliver all orders weighing more than 31kg and every bulky order requiring two-man delivery.
Panther already delivers all large furniture for Habitat, and has held that contract for the last two years. Deliveries take place seven days a week.
Gary McKelvey, commercial director at Panther, said: “We are delighted that Habitat, a brand that has been at the forefront of design for more than 50 years, has chosen Panther as its delivery partner for large and heavy items of home furniture.”
Sainsbury’s acquired Habitat when it bought much of the Home Retail Group (including Argos) in 2016. Habitat has just five separate retail stores nationwide and a number of mini-outlets in Sainsbury’s supermarkets. The company says that around 85% of its sales are now online.
Kevin McQuillan, supply chain and distribution manager for Habitat, said: “By offering bespoke delivery options every day of the week, our customers can feel more confident in purchasing big ticket items how and when they want with the knowledge that delivery can be easily suited around their own busy lifestyles.”
